Learn, grow, and connect within a community of Womanists to uplift and better yourself, each other, and the environment.

OUR MISSION
Black Restorative Agriculture Incubation & Development (BRAID) provides a supportive and uplifting ecosystem for Womanist Cultivators to flourish within the field of agriculture through their commitment to food, justice, and cultural representation, and education.
Our program focuses on collective land stewardship, monocropping, cooperative economics, agriculture technology, and access to climate change assistance.

ABOUT THE BRAID INCUBATOR
Welcome to our community! Members participate in hybrid training modules, collaborative discussions, and an annual in-person retreat during this period. We will cover topics like propagating in our greenhouse, the first seasons of early planting, maintenance harvesting for the summer market, and much more. These engagements are designed to ensure that every member has a voice at the table, as we pool our resources and knowledge to shape the future of agriculture collectively. Cohort members will receive a modest stipend as compensation for their time and efforts.
Our five pillars include representation, leadership, empowerment, access, and prosperity. We want to become part of a network of growers in the Black Belt region, and then nationally, who begin to approach common needs in a new way that supports food sovereignty. We will renew connections with historical, Black-led farming practices and create a pathway to reclaiming our place in the broader farming ecosystem.
