We Are Not Imposters: When We Are Seen

Updated: Mar 13

Graphic with text, "We Are Not Imposters: When We Are Seen."

[ATLANTA, GA] – EcoWomanist Institute Southeast (EWISE) will host a kick-off of a series to be developed and executed along with a multigenerational collective of Black women on March 26 from 12 noon through 4 pm at Hothouse located on 621 North Avenue, NE , Suite C-200. This session will recenter those who have been made to feel like outsiders in spaces where they rightfully belong, shifting the focus from “I am unqualified” to the undeniable truth: “I am THAT woman.”

Women entrepreneurs, professionals, students, and leaders across the public, private, philanthropic, faith-based, and citizen sectors are invited to a dynamic and much-needed conversation aimed at dismantling the myth of “imposter syndrome.” This engaging discussion, featuring Valerie Hill Rawls, MAPT, founder of the EcoWomanist Institute Southeast, and Denise Young, author of When We Are Seen: How to Come Into Your Power and Empower Others Along the Way and former Apple VP of Worldwide Human Resources and first Apple VP of Inclusion and Diversity, will challenge the narrative that too often leads brilliant women—who have had to work twice as hard to prove themselvesto question their own worth and sense of belonging.

As Denise Young writes in When We Are Seen“Sometimes cultural, social, and emotional intelligence gets us to better, quickly. Other times, it takes years.” This truth reflects the complex navigation many face in spaces not always designed for them. Through shared personal experiences and lived wisdom, this discussion will equip attendees with lessons that initiate the journey of dismantling the imposter myth. Participants will walk away feeling affirmed, emboldened, and ready to own their power unapologetically in every space they occupy.

Attend in-person or virtually

This paid event is open to professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and leaders who are ready to reclaim their confidence and disrupt the imposter narrative.
