Doing Nothing
Changes Nothing.

November 3 Is Coming.

Why These Issues Matter

A healthy environment is not a reward for living in the right zip code. It is a right, and EcoJustice is the work of making it one in practice. EWISE advocates for clean air and water, and for people to have real standing in the decisions that shape the environment where they live.

Energy is not an abstraction. It is a line in a household budget. For many families it is one of the largest lines. Energy Democracy means the people paying those bills have real standing in where power comes from and what it costs.

Land is the foundation of everything EWISE does. Black farmers have lost the overwhelming majority of their land over the last century, and the work of getting it back runs through who has the power to open doors — or keep them closed.

What We're Doing

Across Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama, EWISE is following the offices that decide how utilities are run and how agriculture is governed — where EcoJustice, Energy Democracy, and Food Justice are settled in practice.

Georgia

Voters will choose two of five Public Service Commission seats — Districts 3 and 5 — and the Commissioner of Agriculture. You do not have to live in either district to vote in both PSC races.

Register by Monday, October 5  •  Early voting October 13 – 30

Alabama

Voters will choose two Public Service Commission seats, elected statewide, and the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries. This is the last election under the current three-member commission; after 2026 it moves to seven members elected by congressional district.

Register by Monday, October 19  •  No early voting

Mississippi

Offices and positions that directly shape how utilities are run and how agriculture is governed are not on the ballot for Mississippi voters this year — they come in 2027. What is on this year's ballot may still touch these issues indirectly.

Register by Monday, October 5, mail-in only  •  No early voting

Some Voter Resources

Below are resources and tools to help with creating your voting plan.

Through our Power in Small Places initiative, EcoWomanist Institute Southeast (EWISE) is advocating for EcoJustice, Energy Democracy, and Food Justice.

Across the Southeast, the authority over all three sits in offices voters fill. Whichever ballot is in front of you this year, it is worth reading all the way down.
